Painted Bloodwood Gumnuts, mixed designs
These beautifully painted small Gumnuts are part of the range provide by the very talented Indigeneous Artist at Initi Traders in the Northern Territory, Australia. The bloodwood gumnuts have been wild harvested by Indigeneous collectors on their homelands, The gumnuts are then cleaned, trimmed and sorted. They are put out to dry for around 6 weeks. After that a threading hole is pierced into each seed. The Artist then paints each one with a basecoat, followed by a design.
The designs are inspired by country, depicting landscapes, waterholes, flowers, bush foods etc. Many hours of work has gone into each Gumnuts. They have often been handled by several different people, usually in the same family, out bush on traditional homelands..
